A new Premier League record sets by Jorginho as West Ham holds Chelsea

The Blues midfielder has reached a new stage in his draw against Hawthorn.

Jorginho, who signed with Chelsea this summer, added his name to the record book of the English Premier League, while his team stalled against West Ham on Sunday. The former Neapolitan midfielder made 180 assists in the afternoon and became the first player in the league to do so.

Jorginho previously had the time record, with the Chelsea player with the most passes in a single game after supplanting Cesc Fabregas' record of 144 passes against Newcastle in August. The Brazilian midfielder completed a total of 158 passes in the Premier League game against the Magpies, while Chelsea won 2-1.

However, his feats of Sunday afternoon were not enough to help Chelsea maintain its 100% record and extend the race to six. The Blues are currently in third place and are two points behind the leader of the league, Liverpool, with a decisive duel next Sunday.
